The cufflinks feature the Order of the Dragon symbol that Vlad the Impaler, better known as Dracula, is thought to have used during his lifetime to signify his membership in the Order. It is believed that he wore this image as a medallion. The Order of the Dragon was founded in 1408, by Sigismund, the King of Hungary for the purpose of defending the Cross and fighting against the enemies of Christianity, especially the Ottoman Turks. Dracula derived his name from the Order of the Dragon, Dracula means "Son of the Dragon". Vlad's father, Vlad II, received the surname of Dracul, meaning dragon, when he was inducted into the Order in 1431. Dracula himself was inducted into the Order when he was five years old.
Using images of symbol thought to be used by Vlad Dracul, the Badali Jewelry artists designed and created the Order of the Dragon Cufflinks. Each set is skillfully handcrafted one at a time by our staff in your choice of sterling silver or 14k yellow gold. The cufflinks are hand finished and individually inspected for the highest quality.
The cufflinks measure approximately 17.4 mm (11/16") in diameter and 1.2 mm (1/16") thick. Dracula's cufflinks weigh approximately 8.3 grams in sterling silver / approximately 10.5 grams in 14k gold. The back of the cufflink signet is textured and stamped with our makers mark, copyright, and the metal content, STER (sterling) or 14K, ensuring our jewelry is made of the finest metals.
The Order of the Dragon cufflinks are available with a black antiquing finish (as photographed) or plain silver finish / plain gold finish (just the metal, no treatment).
