Straight from the pages of Kevin Hearne's series, The Iron Druid Chronicles™, comes the officially licensed Atticus's Iron Amulet and Binding Charms.  Each necklace is skillfully crafted, hand finished and individually inspected for the highest quality by the Badali Jewelry artists.  The necklace pictured on the covers of the Iron Druid Chronicles™ books, while beautiful, is not how it is described in the series.  We worked directly with Kevin Hearne to create the official version of Atticus's necklace.  To read more on the background of the necklace, see Mr. Hearne's blog.

The Iron Amulet and Binding Charms took Atticus 750 years to craft, bind and complete.  The necklace is built around a central iron amulet forged from a cold iron meteorite.  With the help of an Iron Elemental, Atticus bound the iron amulet to his aura providing him with protection from magical attacks.  Iron is the antithesis of magic and it gives him a unique protective field against magic users and the Fae.  Due to its alien origin, cold iron has no bond with the earth and is able to block or destroy magic better than iron found on earth would.

Each of the ten silver charms on the necklace hold one of Atticus's most frequently used bindings or spells.  While wearing the necklace, he is able to quickly cast those bindings.  The Bear charm stores magical energy that Atticus can tap when he can not connected to the earth.  The Stag, Wolfhound, Owl and Otter charms hold the bindings for shape-shifting to the forms of those animals.  The Otter charm also allows Atticus to breathe underwater and works in conjunction with the iron amulet to protect him from selkies, sirens and the like.  The Camouflage charm, a hammered silhouette, blends Atticus into his environment, but doesn't make him completely invisible.  The Night Vision charm, a Celtic sun, increases the photo receptivity of Atticus's eyes allowing him to see in the dark.  The Magical Sight or "faerie specks" charm, the third eye, allows him to see in the magical and supernatural spectrum, to see through Fae glamours and detect magic juju.  The Healing charm, a Celtic healing well, blocks pain and accelerates healing.  The Soul Catcher charm, a nine-pointed star, binds his soul to his body in the event of a fatal injury allowing his body to heal until he is able to resuscitate.

The iron amulet is cast in actual iron and measures approximately 32 mm (1 1/4") in diameter and weighs approximately 11 grams.  The charms are available in your choice of sterling silver or pewter.  The charms measure approximately 13 mm (1/2") by 13 mm (1/2").  The charms weigh approximately 1.1 grams to 2.1 grams in sterling silver, approximately 1.2 grams to 1.7 grams in pewter.  The iron amulet and binding charms are hung on a 20" long stainless steel rolo chain.  The chain measures approximately 4 mm (1/8") thick.

We are a cast-to-order company and cast every Tuesday and Thursday.  Please allow 5 to 7 days from the next casting date for production of this item.  Orders placed before 3pm MST Monday or Wednesday will be included in the following day's cast.  Feel free to contact us for the anticipated production time for your Iron Druid Chronicles Jewelry.

Note: Prolonged exposure to water or moisture will cause iron to rust.  Rust can be removed from your iron medallion by rubbing it with cloth dipped in any form of vegetable oil.

This item comes in a jewelry box with a card of authenticity.

I bought this (the pewter version) at Phoenix Comicon in 2014, and have worn it almost daily since, so much so that someone who's never read the books saw one at Barnes & Noble and took a photo because "it's your necklace!". I always get compliments, sometimes even from people who recognize it as Atticus'. The chain has held up great, the iron amulet looks exactly the same and has a good but not excessive weight to it, and the charms have only recently started to tarnish, which might have something to so with wearing it daily for four years. It's a brilliant piece, and I can't recommend it enough.

Great experience (again) with this company. This year, they were our featured Christmas presents. Their unique line of book/novel-based jewelry (in our case, Iron Druid and Dresden Files) was a huge hit. Very nice quality.
In addition to the quality of their products, we unfortunately also tested the quality of their communications and customer service. I'm happy to say that they are outstanding. Fedex misplaced a time-critical package but their staff saved the day by dealing with that issue and mailing out a second, separate order to insure timely delivery. Such responsiveness and care is somewhat rare these days.
Overall 5 stars for this great experience. We'll be getting more soon.

It's over all very nice but I think a bit small and you should be able to get the entire thing in silver (except the actual iron of course)

Ordered the Atticus's Necklace & Granuaile's Iron Necklace, to go with the books. Very impressed, we both love these!
