Red Rising
On Mars, the Society sorts the living by Color, gold at the top and red at the bottom and twelve other castes wedged in between. The high cities belong to the Golds who built them. The helium mines beneath belong to the Reds who die in them. At the Institute, a Red named Darrow let himself be carved into a Gold, and spent every year after that learning, slowly and at great cost, how to break the whole machine from the inside.
Society sorts the living into Colors. Mars sorts the worthy into Houses.
Licensed by Pierce Brown. The Institute rings are still cut and cast by hand in a workshop in Utah, in the same molds they have been poured in since the first one came off the bench.

The Rebellion
The Howlers ran with Darrow from the snow of the Institute through every campaign that came after. They were not the strongest house at the school. They were the ones who refused to kneel, then refused to die, then refused to forget who they had been before the carving.
Declare Your Color
The Societies
Gold rules from the high cities. Red works the helium mines that built them. Between them, twelve other Colors, each born to their station and trained from childhood to never look up. Wear the Color the Society would have given you, or the one you would have torn out of its hand.
The Maker
Heirlooms by Hand
There is a workshop in Utah where the Institute rings are still poured by hand into molds the casters know by heart. The benches are old and the metal is real, and every ring leaves here finished by the same hand that cast it.
